Kanhaiya Kumar is actively spreading lies about CAA, NRC, and NPR throughout the country. It needs to be seriously dealt with. Being the former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and an active member of the Tukde-Tukde gang, Kanhaiya is best at covering illogical arguments, misinformation, and lies under the disguise of professional mannerism. Something that has enabled him to be part of the Communist Party of India (CPI).
This article mainly focuses on the fake agenda of Kanhaiya Kumar. Several paid media channels like Quint and The Wire are now helping him to spread it across the country. Our aim is to expose the fearmongering that he is causing in the minds of people.
We have showcased his recent video in the post about CAA, NRC, and NPR. With the shade of communist red on the background and all anti-national agenda prepared beforehand, Kanhaiya delivers his fabricated claims. So let’s start breaking it down:
CAB bana CAA, Akhir Desh ko Mila Kya? – Kanhaiyatranslation: CAB got transformed into CAA, but what did country really achieve?
The Law as per the Constitution
Kanhaiya Kumar quotes on Citizenship Act, 1955 and mentions a very partial version of the law given by the constitution which mentions certain guidelines and requirements for an individual to be a citizen of India.
He asserts that the government is trying to change the law by making it suit as per their own needs. He also claims that under the Citizenship Act of 1955 any individual can request citizenship if they respect the constitution and willingly abide by the law. However, it strongly condemns the efforts of any type of illegal immigration. The same thing that Kanhaiya explained mentions that:
Any person who, for the purpose of procuring anything to be done or not to be done under this Act, knowingly makes any representation which is false in a material particular shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees, or with both.Read further at https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/citizenshipact1.htm
So why mislead people in believing that under the Citizenship Act of 1955, anyone can get citizenship and the government is not allowed to amend it as per the situation demands?! Are you trying to shamelessly justify that the illegal Bangladeshis problem in West Bengal is not a real problem? Are you saying that 40,000 Rohingya’s illegal occupancy of Bengal, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir are not real problems? you mean the livelihood of indigenous people of Assam has been destroyed by illegal migrants is not real?
Kanhaiya is simply quoting the guidelines of this Act but what he is not telling you is regarding Article 10 and Article 11 of our constitution which briefly mentions that:
The above snippets are taken from part 2 of the constitution of India. It explains how all the laws stated are subject to provisions by the Parliament. It has clearly asserted that Parliament has all the final say in all the nitty-gritty of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Well, the matter of fact is since its inception Citizenship Act of 1955 has been changed over multiple times.
CAA is Anti-Muslim Myth
The video also shows Yogendra Yadav addressing The Quint who alleges that CAA is against Muslims because it is discriminatory in nature. His misleading claims are based on the Citizenship Act 2019 that states:
The Citizenship Act 2019 bars illegal immigrants from registration of Citizenship that have forced themselves into Indian territory with no legal means. These are immigrants who have entered the borders illegally and have no legal documents like Passport, Visa to support their identity. Such immigrants will not be provided any citizenship, provided they fall into the category of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christians community.
However, there will be no discrimination against Muslims or Non-muslims who have legally stayed in the country. So why does the illegal migrant category exempts religiously persecuted people from non-muslim communities? Religiously persecuted minorities in large numbers have fled or are having the willingness to leave from the above-mentioned Islamic countries namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh or Pakistan.
Minority religious people living in mentioned countries face brutalities like Rape, forceful Religious Conversions, women abduction and their vandalizing of property. They even have no right to practice their worships to avoid unnecessary violent encounters from the locals. CAA will not take away the citizenship of Muslims who are already living in India.
You will never hear Kanhaiya Kumar, Yogendra Yadav and Swara Bhaskar speaking such cruel treatments of minorities occurring in neighboring Islamic countries.
What is NRC?
NRC stands for the National Register of Citizens. Name itself implies that it is a database that contains records of all legal citizens of India. It simply includes all the information of people who qualify as citizens of India.
Using NRC to preach hate
Evidently, where there is Kanhaiya there is always a Swara further peddling the hate. We have recently covered an article to show you how she does it. In the video above, there is also a short clip of Swara giving an intro to NRC where she quotes:
People of Assam had to present papers for generations just to prove their Indian Citizenship
No not the people of Assam who are originally citizens of Assam, only the illegal immigrants who have created worst chaos in the history of Assam by forcefully occupying lands of indigenous Assamese people. Swara’s illogical expert opinions are only good when confined to walls of JNU and extremists of Jamia.
Kanhaiya Kumar further points out the facts from Assam NRC. The result of NRC was declared and it was found that only 19 lakhs names were excluded from the National Register of Citizens. Out of which 13 lakhs belonged to the Hindu community which included 11 lakhs Bengali Hindus, 1 lakhs Gorkhas and another 1 lakh were Assamese Hindus.
It is true that Assam NRC turned out to be a massive failure. Yet, Kanhaiya and Swara never mentioned how illegal Muslims living in Assam sabotaged NRC. This report from the northeast covers how Bangladeshis came up with fake identities and entered fake names using all the fake documents. Prateek Hajela, Assam NRC coordinator reported this to the Apex court:
The authenticity of only 7.4 percent of 1, 43,714 refugee registration certificate and 17.4 percent of 66,559 citizenship certificates could be verified. Besides, 112 RRC and 376 citizenship certificates were found to be forged.
Clearly, the illegal migrants were funded, many reports even suggested that several officers were also bribed to forge the documents. As per the reports, it is also evident that many Islamist parties have helped illegal Bangladeshis to forge their documents by every means to prove their citizenship. And still, no one from the Tukde-Tukde gang mentioned this.
Kanhaiya Kumar never discussed this in his video. His only purpose is to topple down the state machinery and its government to uphold its communist propaganda. His purpose has what earned him the helm of ‘Urban Naxal’ and his gang members as ‘Urban Naxalites’.
Assam has failed NRC because it was not properly planned. Officials should have considered cases of forgery of documents by Bangladeshis even before they started conducting exercises. They failed to track illegal fundings behind this forgery. They failed to check the authenticity of documents at a very basic level. Now that it has failed, it doesn’t mean every attempt to NRC will fail. The possible efforts for the next NRC will be more structured and the focus will be on estimating total illegal immigrants residing in the country.
What NRC is not?
NRC is not here to take your Citizenship on a random basis just because you are Muslim, it is the record of the proof of authenticity that you belong to this country. A very much needed provision to keep track of illegal occupancy. Much of fear and hate has been spread by Tukde-Tukde gang, so let us now clear myths behind it.
NRC is nothing new. Rajyasabha unanimously passed the bill in 2003. BJP government passed it under Vajpayee in 2003. Congress never took active steps for it but the amendment did pass in Rajyasabha with the help of Congress. The CAA 2003 also contains provisions for a nation-wide National Register of Indian Citizens (NRIC) and the current government has not changed anything regarding it.
At about 7:55 minute mark in the video, Kanhaiya Kumar spreads false information about the process. He puts all the responsibility of NRC results on the heads of government officials, who he addresses as ‘babus’, who might visit door to door to collect information.
He has done his Ph.D. in African studies and maybe that is his limiting factor when tries to explain to you how NRC works. It won’t be ‘Babus’ that will decide your citizenship like Kanhaiya mentions. It comprises of a very systematic set of procedures that can be summarized in 6-7 steps like what they followed in Assam:
- Legacy Data Publication Phase
- Application Form Distribution & Receipt Phase
- Verification Phase
- Publication of NRC Part Draft
- Complete NRC Draft Publication & Receipt of Claims and Objections Phase
- Final NRC Publication.
Forgetting their names included in the updated NRC, citizens shall have to submit Applications Forms (family-wise). Application Forms received by the Government shall be verified and based on the results of verification of particulars submitted by the citizens in their Application Forms; the updated NRC shall be prepared.Taken from NRC portal of Government of Assam
However, to afford another opportunity to the applicants before the publication of the final NRC, a draft NRC shall be published after verification of the Application Forms and the citizens are given chance to submit claims, objections, corrections, etc. After verification of all such claims and objections, the final NRC would be published.
To further clarify, any government ‘Babu’ could have systematically explained this than people like Kanhaiya or Swara.
Documents that may require for NRC
To further unmask the confusion, we would like to add that no NRC exercise has been declared by the government as of now. They have also repeatedly assured that there cannot be any special document related to identity which will be asked. It will all be common documents. Below is the list of documents that Assam NRC asked:

- 1951 NRC
- Electoral roll(s) up to 24 March (midnight), 1971
- Land and tenancy records
- Citizenship certificate

- Government service/employment certificate
- Bank or post office accounts

Debunking lies of NPR
You might have heard series of latest allegations coming from Tukde-Tukde Gang, Shaheen Bagh sympathizers and Congress party of India on NPR and its connection to NRC. Truth is that its all fabricated – to distract you from getting the right facts. More so, the government of around 13 states has even announced to suspend NPR exercise. These states are mostly congress ruled and partnered states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand, MP, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Punjab, TMC governed West-Bengal and Communist governed Kerala. They will never be able to stop it because in that case, the center will take its own course of action for conducting the exercise. So what NPR is?
The National Population Register (NPR) is a Register of usual residents of the country. It is being prepared at the local (Village/sub-Town), sub-District, District, State and National level under provisions of the Citizenship Act 1955 and the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003. It is mandatory for every usual resident of India to register in the NPR. A usual resident is defined for the purposes of NPR as a person who has resided in a local area for the past 6 months or more or a person who intends to reside in that area for the next 6 months or more.Taken from http://censusindia.gov.in
The objective of the NPR is to create a comprehensive identity database of every usual resident in the country. The database would contain demographic as well as biometric particulars.Taken from http://censusindia.gov.in
Documents needed for NPR
The following demographic details of every individual are required for every usual resident:
- Name of person
- Relationship to head of household
- Father’s name
- Mother’s name
- Spouse’s name (if married)
- Date of Birth
- Marital status
- Place of birth
- Nationality (as declared)
- Present address of usual residence
- Duration of stay at present address
- Permanent residential address
- Educational qualification
NPR and NRC have no connection! I repeat, no connection.
“No proof will be required during the census as it will be based on self-declaration,” Javadekar
NPR is a list of all usual residents of the country. A usual resident is a person who has resided in India for 6 months or more. NPR is not to prove your Citizenship as it will also include a foreigner staying in an area for more than six months.
The BJP led government has even officially mentioned it multiple times that it is a national population register and has no connection with NRC. Tukde-Tukde gang and paid media outlets are showing wrong Chronology.
Regarding the confusion that it has created, once NPR exercise starts rolling out in April we would like to hear it publically from the PM Modi to publically address the nation and assure citizens that they will keep onto the promises that they have made. Until then let’s try to refrain ourselves from blindly believing homemade assertions from communism lovers, JNU’s semi-literates and hate spreading propagandist news channels like Quint, The Wire, and the NDTV.
